about
Loot Lat Yay (Freedom) was kindly produced as part of the Little Lotus Project by Heart Offishal.
‘Little Lotus Project’ is a collaborative art project, linking international artists with refugee children on the Thai/Burma border.
Over the past two years, the project has seen 16 talented artists/creatives from across the globe fundraise their way to the Thai/Burma border. The artists worked with and inspired refugee and migrant children who have fled from the instability of Burma and are now supported by the children’s charity, SpinningTop.
In 2011 sound engineer Leon Dalton from Auckland, New Zealand volunteered on the project and recorded sounds and samples with the children and with Burmese hip-hop group Generation Wave.
These sound bites were distributed to the talented artists featured on the Little Lotus EP who used them as a base and inspiration for an original track especially for the Little Lotus Project, available to purchase here for just $10 with all profits going to the kids who inspired the songs. Each EP sold provides 25 nutrition meals for children living in extreme poverty. We hope you enjoy listening!

lyrics
Chorus
For the freedom,
go forward and be brave,
for our future to be beautiful,
so our hands are together and we don't let go.
Verse
Close the eyes,
close the ears,
leave it behind,
why are you afraid?
don't be hiding,
keep it for the freedom,
to tell the truth.
Our opportunity is always beautiful,
our destiny is in our hands,
if we keep it with us,
then our future will be beautiful.
Show your braveness to be a good example for our new generation.
Talk about the freedom,
think about the freedom,
write about the freedom,
this is the song for freedom.
